I will be exhibiting again this year at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition which takes place at Nathan Phillips Square (Toronto City Hall). It runs Friday July 10th to Sunday July 12, rain or shine and with or without a city garbage strike. My booth is Yellow 695, located on the West side of the square under the running track.
The Outdoor Show is a great way to spend a beautiful summer day in Toronto. There will be more than 500 exhibiting artists and you’ll be able to find all kinds of exceptional work, from jewelery to ceramics, to sculpture, painting, printmaking, and of course drawing!
Come wander around and look. Admission is free.

Here are some images of the Jordan Art Gallery taken on the day of my opening. The opening reception went very well. Above is an exterior view of the gallery. Below is a view of one of my pieces through the front window (complete with onlooker).

The artists who run the Jordan Art Gallery are some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of working with. Here are a couple of snap shots of the show.

The exhibition will be up until the June 30th, so there is still time to catch it.

The Jordan Art Gallery has invited me back for another exhibition. There will be fourteen new drawings included in the show, entitled Coalesce.
The exhibition runs from June 1st -30th and the opening is this Sunday June 7th from 2-4 pm.
I’ve said it before, but Jordan Village is such a lovely place to visit. Grab a tasty bite to eat at Zooma Zooma Cafe or see what else Jordan has to offer.
I hope to see you there.

Recently, I’ve been revisiting a series of ravens I started in 2005. This series is a collection of large charcoal drawings on paper.  Mimic I, II, and III are the newest additions, but I anticipate this series will continue to grow.
While making these drawings I have begun to think about how the act of drawing allows me to bring myself closer to my subject. In this series, I am trying not to over think the work and just enjoy the process of drawing.

Proximity, 2009
Proximity is one of my new works and is currently on exhibition in the Drawing 2009 show at John B. Aird Gallery until February 27th, 2009.
The DRAWING 2009 show presents 33 original works in a variety of styles, techniques and media. Some works incorporate found objects, some are digitized and still others use traditional techniques.
As one of a few galleries in Canada to showcase drawing as an art form unto itself, the Aird attracts emerging and established artists who are really committed to the discipline. This year, 115 artists submitted more than 170 works for consideration. From these, three jurors selected the 33 works in the exhibition.

Aleks Bartosik, Judith Geher, Robert Malinowski, Jenny Wing Yee Tong, and Lois Schklar are a few of my favorite artists in the exhibition.
This exhibition is a very strong show and a great representation of contemporary drawing in Ontario.
January 31st, 2009
I am pleased to have been juried into the 10th annual John B. Aird Drawing Exhibition in Toronto, Ontario.
The drawing accepted is a new work on panel from my Emergence series. New images will follow soon.
The exhibition can be viewed at the John B. Aird Gallery, 900 Bay Street (near Wellesley in the Macdonald Block, an Ontario government building) from February 3rd to February 27th. Gallery hours are 10 am to 6 pm from Monday through Friday.
If you have an interest in contemporary drawing, this is a great show to see.

This group exhibition also includes works from Andrea Bird, Linda Crabtree, Suzi Dwor, Diana Hinman, Mae Leong, Claudette Losier, Roxann Vivian Smith and Michelle Teitsma.
