Dual Series on Exhibition at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library
July 23rd, 2011
Here are some images of the installation at ELCSLPL. The exhibition opened on Thursday July 21st and will continue until August 28th, 2011. As promised in my last post, scroll down to see the final drawing in this series.
This fourteen foot charcoal drawing of a mirrored pregnant woman titled, Dual, is the final drawing in this series. For the Dual series, I focused on northern animals as a way of playfully contemplating ideas surrounding symbiotic relationships and cohabitation, but these drawings were also motivated by ideas around cellular division, conception and the animal nature of our biology. I have always been interested in that small moment in conception where one cell makes its first divide and sets into motion the creation of a life. The mirrored animal heads in this series represent this initial cellular division. All of the work in this series, along with the title of this exhibition, State of Transformation, was inspired by the conception of my son and my pregnancy. This body of work was a way of coming to terms with the transitions that were occurring in my life and with my body as I prepared for his arrival.
The ELCSLPL has a great gallery space. I am pleased to be showing my work with them. If you are in Montreal, I hope you’ll check it out.

State of Transformation – solo exhibition
July 16th, 2011
Opening this week is my solo exhibition State of Transformation / Etat de Transformation at the Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library in Côte Saint-Luc, Quebec. Here is a link to a press release for the exhibition on the City of Côte Saint-Luc’s site.
This exhibition features 11 drawings from my Dual Series and will run from July 21 to August 28, 2011.
I have recently finished three new drawings to complete the series.
Here are two of the newest additions.
I will post images of the installation along with images of the final work in the series soon. The final drawing is truly the capstone for this body of work.
